INDICATIONS
Imdur (isosorbide mononitrate) is at a small grouping of drugs called nitrates. It dilates (widens) arteries, making it easier for blood to circulate through them and simpler for your heart to pump.
INSTRUCTIONS
Take Imdur exactly as prescribed from your doctor.
Take prescription drugs with no less than 4 ounces of water or any other liquid. Do not crush, chew, or break an extended-release tablet. Swallow the pill whole.
If possible, try and rest or stay seated by using this medication. Imdur might cause dizziness or fainting. Use Imdur regularly to prevent an angina attack.
Do not stop taking Imdur suddenly. Stopping suddenly may cause an intense angina attack.
DOSAGE
The usual adult dose of Imdur is 30-60 mg orally once a day. Follow your physician's dosing instructions thoroughly.
STORAGE
Store this medicine at room temperature far from moisture, heat, and lightweight. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.
Call your physician immediately if you have a critical side-effect for example:
fast, slow, pounding, or uneven heartrate;
feeling just like you might distribute;
trouble breathing, blue-colored skin, tired feeling; or
worsening angina pain.
Less serious Imdur negative effects may include:
headache, mild dizziness;
warmth, redness, or tingling below your skin;
nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea;
pain or stiffness in joints or muscles;
hot flashes; or
dry mouth.
Do not use Imdur in case you are taking sildenafil (Viagra, Revatio). A dangerous drug interaction could occur, bringing about serious negative effects. You should not use Imdur if you are allergic to isosorbide mononitrate, isosorbide dinitrate, (Isordil, Dilatrate, Isochron), or nitroglycerin, or for those who have early warning signs of heart disease (chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading for the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling).
To be sure you can safely take Imdur, tell your doctor if you have some of these other difficulties:
congestive heart failure;
low blood pressure; or
kidney disease.
Tell a medical expert about all the other medications you employ, especially:
blood pressure levels medication;
dihydroergotamine (D.H.E. 45, Migranal) or ergotamine (Ergomar, Cafergot, while others);
an erectile dysfunction medication such as tadalafil (Cialis) or vardenafil (Levitra);
a beta blocker for example atenolol (Tenormin, Tenoretic), carvedilol (Coreg), labetalol (Normodyne, Trandate), metoprolol (Dutoprol, Lopressor, Toprol), nadolol (Corgard), propranolol (Inderal, InnoPran), sotalol (Betapace), among others;
heart or blood pressure levels medicine including amlodipine (Norvasc, Caduet, Exforge, Lotrel, Tekamlo, Tribenzor, Twynsta, Amturnide), diltiazem (Cartia, Cardizem), nifedipine (Nifedical, Procardia), verapamil (Calan, Covera, Isoptin, Verelan), among others.
It isn't known whether Imdur will harm an developing fetus. Tell a medical expert in case you are pregnant or want to become pregnant when using this medication. It just isn't known whether isosorbide mononitrate passes into breast milk or if it could possibly harm a nursing baby. Do not use Imdur without telling your physician if you are breast-feeding your baby.
